Courses & Examinations
Our courses and examinations correspond to the levels of the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR). They range from A1 for beginners to C2 for masters. In 2016, approximately 450,000 people took a ‘Goethe exam’ in over 500 authorised examination centres.
Recognition of Certificates
Our certificates are recognised worldwide: for example Goethe-Zertifikat A1: Start Deutsch 1 is recognised for family reunification, and Goethe-Zertifikat B2 is the initial requirement for study or for medical staff applying to work in Germany in many countries.

The Yunus Emre Institute is a public organization which was established in 2007 for the purpose of promoting Turkey, its culture, language and art. It conducts its activities under the Yunus Emre Foundation. The Institute provides courses in language, culture and art abroad in order to support cultural exchange and to strengthen the relations between Turkey and other nations. The Institute carries out its activities via 50 cultural centers located in 40 countries.
The Institute has launched an international examination called “Türkçe Yeterlik Sinavi” (TYS) (Turkish Proficiency Exam - TPE) in accordance with the proficiency definitions and standards of The Common European Framework. This is with the aim of measuring the proficiency of students wishing to learn Turkish as a foreign or second language, The Turkish Proficiency Exam focuses on the following four language skills: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.
